Neil O’Shea

Neil has been a practising lawyer for over 25 years working in some prominent law firms before breaking away 10 years ago to start his own business with partner Graeme Jolly.

Neil draws on his commercial and accounting credentials when advising on transactions thus providing a financial perspective to his
legal services. The ability to read and interpret balance sheets, profit and loss statements and cash flow statements is critical in assisting clients in their commercial transactions. Being able to ensure the relevant protection mechanisms are inserted in the legal documentation is also essential.

Neil is skilled in communicating with clients in a way that not only offers strategic legal advice, but also explains complex legal terminology and principles in plain English. This puts his clients at ease, as they understand the full scope of his advice.

For over 15 years Neil has been the main commercial lawyer for a major Australian company in the Lawn and Turfcare Equipment and Irrigation industry. That work has involved him advising in relation to numerous aspects of law including Intellectual Property, Employment, Trade Practices, Corporations Law; and the negotiation and drafting of many types of commercial documentation including dealer agreements, distribution agreements, sponsorship agreements and confidentiality agreements as well as assisting in due diligence investigations in business and company acquisitions.

In addition to his experience in general business matters Neil has extensive experience in all types of property transactions, including the sale, purchase, leasing or mortgaging of residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties; and in acting for property developers who have required option agreements, building contracts and joint venture agreements. As part of that experience in real property matters Neil also provides advice in relation to Land Tax and Stamp Duty issues.

Neil’s clients range from individuals, families, small and medium sized businesses and companies, to large companies with international business transactions. Business areas of these clients range from personnel/recruitment, retail, wholesale, computer hardware and software, building construction and development, mortgage broking and dental equipment to large-scale turf and lawn care maintenance and irrigation.
